Pop Culture I

Showers of needles
Piercing silken skin, pin holes, rivulets of blood

Ruptured arteries, the pulsating flow, venting
Crimson agony

Mutilated senses
The flood of endorphins, pain, intoxication

Rushing adrenals, the pounding arrhythmia
Of a broken heart

Tear meat from the bone
Rent flesh, a breakfast for crows, carrion devils

With their whips of fire, languishing in the feast, fear
Limp, broken bodies

Children at play, like
Chicks in the yard, they cost, the weak among them

Trampled in the dust, they peck to death the different
Leave them for the worms

A new bath of shame
Our tragedies of romance, exposed, horrified

Petulant artists, relent, lament entropy
Heat death and drowning

The loss of passion
Patterns of nihilism, hemlock and self-doubt
