Take Out the Trash

You heard the impeachment managers from the House of Representatives, it is time for the Senate to do their work and clean out the oval office.

Donald J. Trump must go!

Sadly it is not likely to happen. The GOP has turned into a cult of personality, it is not the Grand Old Party anymore, it is now the Great Oligarchichal Party of America, completely unmoored from its founding as the party of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower.

It has become the party of anti-intellectual no-nothings, totally corrupt, self-dealing self-serving garbage, and we have to throw the bums out.

We all know that the republicans in the Senate are faithless, craven cowards. They have abandoned their oath of office, which they never meant to uphold, and they are planning to sell out the constitution for their personal short term political gain.

We must hold them accountable. If they are unwilling to hold Donald trump accountable, the rest of must hold them all accountable, take our country back, and uphold the rule of law.

This means we have to stick together.

We have to stay unified, all the way through the campaign season which is now in full swing.

We have to get behind and stay behind the candidate who captures the momentum, we have to stop letting our idealism get in the way of progress.

Let the republicans have their moment over the next few days, because it is their moment, and there is nothing we can do about it. Let them have it, they can stew in their garbage until the next election when we clear them all out in a clean sweep.

Remember people, this election year is a census year, and whoever control congress controls redistricting, if we let that slip away we give up the whole game for the next ten years.

Trump is getting to be acquitted, not in the interest of justice, but because fifty four Republican Senators are not able to bear witness to Trump’s corruption through the filters they have set up to blind themselves to their own.

Impeached – Editorial, The Week in Review

Impeached
Something good happened this week in Washington D.C., it doesn’t matter what the motivation for it was. It was good and it doesn’t matter that the impeachment of Donald Trump was a partisan affair, though it is a stain on our societal-conscience that it had to be. What matters is that the man was impeached and that is good.

It was just.

Donald Trump conspired with a foreign adversary to win the presidency, he has been lying to the American people about that and many other things since before he took the oath of office.

He has committed many crimes since then, including fraud, perjury, abuse of power, obstruction of justice, obstruction of congress, and lying to the FBI, submitting false reports to congress, ordering federal agencies to lie to the American people and to produce false reports, and he is profiting from his office by receiving emoluments both from the States, and from foreign governments.

Donald Trump is corrupt to the core and it is good that he has been called to account.

We must do more.

Donald Trump has been protected from being indicted by a Department of Justice policy that does not have the force if law, He has been protected from being investigated for his crimes by his Attorney General, and so his impeachment in the house was the only path forward to hold him accountable.

Despite the best efforts of the Republicans in the House of Representatives the impeachment was passed. The majority of the American people want this man removed from office, but there are no republicans in congress who support it.

They must be voted out as well. Such feckless people cannot be allowed to have access to power. They have violated their trust and their oath of office.

Donald Trump is unworthy of the presidency. The Senate must hold him accountable, remove him from office and bar him from ever seeking to hold federal office again.

It is time for Republicans in the Senate to do the right thing, to stand up for principle, to stand up as patriots and put the orange menace out.

Tear the band-aid off and do it.

Strip Mitch Mc Connell of his office while you are at it, appoint a new majority leader, appoint someone committed to justice, to America, and to protecting our constitution.

Reject the tyrant and his minions, do it now.

Every day that Donald Trump remains in office he poses a threat to the security of the United States. Inauguration day 2021 is to far away.

Donald Trump has sold us out to our adversaries, weekend us on the world stage and he threatens to set the American people against each other in something like a civil war.

The time for action is now.

Impeach Donald Trump – Editorial, The Week in Review

Impeach Donald Trump
The fake president is going to be impeached!

Thank goodness, nevermind the naysayers, those who want to decry this development as an act of partisan politics. It is partisan, but that is only because the democrats in congress are showing a genuine concern for the rule of law, our national security, and the integrity of our elections.

It is true that there are some partisans that have been calling for the impeachment of the president since he took office. You can complain that they were being presumptive, but it does not mean that they were wrong. Donald Trump conspired with a foreign power to win the presidency in the first place, and he is set to do it again if nobody stops him.

He is corrupt to his core, and his corruption is spreading to every branch of government.

Those who were calling for his impeachment from t=day one, they may have been presumptuous but they were right.

Donald Trump is a criminal and he must be removed from office, if the Senate won’t do it when he stands trial there, then the people will have to do it November, but either way history has to record that his conduct is unacceptable, will not be tolerated, and cannot continue.

It is the duty of all Americans to stand behind this impeachment.

The day he ordered a government agency to lie about the size of the crowds attending his inauguration was the first instance of an abuse of power that showed us what we could expect during the course of his term.

It was a small thing, and completely in keeping with his character; people laughed and made light of it, but I was reminded of Master Ittei’s words from the Hagekure: “Matters of great concern should be treated lightly.” Master lttei commented, “Matters of small concern should be treated seriously.”

This is more than just a bit of strategy, it is a philosophy for life.

Donald Trump cannot be trusted to execute his oath faithfully, and censuring him is not enough.

Congress must let the world know that his presidency is not acceptable to the American people, and every single one of his supporters in the House of Representatives, and the Senate must be put on the record that they approve or disapprove of his actions, whatever the case may be.

They must be put on the record and held accountable for their vote by the judgement of their constituents, and of history, ultimately.

Let come what may!

Impeachment – Editorial, The Week in Review

Analysis, Commentary, Opinion
11.02.2019

Impeachment
It is about time, and not soon enough. The impeachment of the orange tyrant has begun.

I am grateful for it.

All people of good conscious must get support it. Donald Trump’s criminal pursuit of the presidency began before the 2016 election, and he has continued his criminal enterprise throughout his tenure in office.

The American people must demand his impeachment and removal from office, and his disqualification from seeking the office in the future.

Listen!

This is not a court of law, we are in the court of common sense, the people and our representatives in Congress and the Senate must act to protect to protect the country and the constitution from the corrupt machinations of an impulsive, illiterate madman.

Speak up, make yourself heard, tell the pundits in the media, the news anchors and analysts, tell everyone who speaks and writes on public affairs that we have had enough.

We cannot fret about the political fortunes of our preferred political parties, we cannot give any weight to those who tell us “let the voters decide.” We cannot let this man remain in office one day longer than we have to. On any given day Donald Trump’s rash and impulsive character has the potential to do irrevocable harm to the country, the American people, and our allies. Witness the pain and suffering he has visited on our allies the Syrian Kurds, as proof of this claim.

He sold them out.

He sold them out to benefit Turkey and Russia, and by extension murderous Regime of Bashar al Assad in Syria and his benefactors in Iran. The man cannot be trusted to make decisions on behalf of the broader interest of the American people. He only sees his future economic interests at play, his Twin Trump Towers in Turkey, his long standing desire to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

It did not and still does not matter to Trump that our allies the Kurds are being subjected to ethnic cleansing by the Turks, squeezed between them and Russians, having to turn to Syria for help. It does not matter that two weeks before he sold them out our Kurdish allies provided us with the intelligence that allowed us to take out the leader of ISIS. The Fake and Corrupt President has no loyalty to anyone or anything but his own narrow self-interest.

Impeach him, remove him now, disqualify from holding any federal office.

He employed illegal extortion and bribery tactics against our ally Ukraine, he did it to benefit his 2020 presidential campaign, and his benefactor Vladimir Putin, the Russian dictator. Donald Trump will do worse if we do not hold him accountable.

It is the duty of all American patriots to stand against him.

Every single day the man is profiting illegally from his office, taking money from both State governments and foreign powers, in violation of the emoluments clause of the constitution.

He has been exercising an abusive and criminal influence over every branch of his government from the first day he took office, lying to the American people directly, and through his political appointees in government.

We cannot trust anything he says.

Impeach him now.

Censure all of his allies in and out of government, those feckless apologists and cowards who pretend that the things he is do are normal and okay; vote them out of office.

Get rid of them, they are no good.

This is a time for all American people to act. To be outraged. Our republic is in danger of going off the rails.

America, we deserve better than this.

We cannot suffer a man who courts the support of dictators, strong-men, and tyrants around the world, who asks them time and time again to interfere in our democracy, we cannot allow him to destroy our republic.

He is not worth your support! Drop him like a bad habit! Let’s move on!

Traitor – Editorial, The Week in Review

Analysis, Commentary, Opinion
10.05.2019

Traitor
A lying, cheating, thief, that is the character of the man that occupies the white house: the fake president, the orange menace, the little baby tyrant.

As a veteran who swore an oath to protect the constitution of the United States, to protect it from all enemies, foreign and domestic, I am sickened by the lack of moral probity that half of the United States Congress is demonstrating as they make apologies and excuses for Donald J. Trump, I am sickened and disheartened and fearful for the republic, because they swore the same as of service as I did, and they are treating it so cheaply.

The president is a traitor to the country, it is fully apparent. Donald J. Trump is operating a rogue regime and an enemy of the state.

This week that bloated bloviating blowhard called for civil war, not to protect the people, but to protect himself.

He is actively threatening a repeat of the deadliest war we have ever fought, he would sacrifice all of those live to line his own pockets.

He is seeking the aid of our adversaries abroad to strengthen his political position, he is petitioning them, and attempting to extort them to do so.

As he is being called to account for his criminal deeds he is out on the stump lying to his followers telling them that he is being subjected to a coup de etat.

Do not let it stand!

Listen; a coup de etat is an illegal, extra judicial, violent overthrow of a duly elected government. What congress is engaged in right now through its impeachment inquiry is a constitutional, process designed to safeguard our democracy.

Anyone who takes up the language of coup, and civil war, is giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States of America.

We cannot trust them, they need to be voted out of office, and taken off the air waves.

Donald Trump belongs in prison, along with his sons and his daughter and his wife, along with any person who has knowingly gone along with his schemes to undermine the rule of law or the separation of powers between the three branches of government.

His crimes cannot be ignored.

The sycophants who praise him and protect him in congress, those fools in his administration they need to stop. Their constituents need to ask themselves what is wrong those people that they do not have the common sense that would afford a normal person the ability to tell when they are being lied to, or to discern when they are being conned.

Republicans in congress, especially in the Senate they need to stop running from the man’s crimes, acting like they are powerless to do anything about it. They have to make a principled stand to fulfill their oath and defend the Constitution.

The time to act has come!

Moscow Mitch – Editorial, The Week in Review

Analysis, Commentary, Opinion
07.27.2019

Moscow Mitch

I have said it before and I’ll say it again; the senior senator from Kentucky, the Senate Majority Leader, Republican Mitch McConnell, that man hates America.

Mitch McConnell just like T-Rump, loathes representative democracy and abhors the rule of law. He hates the men and women of this country; our wounded veterans, the victims and survivors of 9/11, coal minors from his own state, you name it he hates them.

That man is single-handedly trying to tear our country apart, applying a ridiculous argument in order to refuse to hold hearing on a Supreme Court Justice nominated by President Obama, and suggesting that he would abandon that argument in a Kentucky second, to appoint justices for the Fake President, Donald Trump.

Mitch McConnell refused to sign on to a bi-partisan warning that Russia was attacking the American electoral system in 2017, and is refusing to allow a bill to go to floor of the United States Senate for election security the upcoming and all future elections.

Mitch McConnell hates America, he hates democracy, he has sold out the country to Russia and Vladimir Putin’s stoogies in the White House, Donald J. Trump and family.

You can draw no-other conclusion.

Mitch McConnell the Moscow Mule has to go, vote him out Kentucky.

Vote him out America.

Vote like the future of our democracy and the American Dream depended on it, because they do.

Vote Blue!

The Wrong Way – Editorial, The Week in Review

The Wrong Way
Nancy Pelosi let her frustration with Donald Trump, on the one hand, and her caucus on the other hand, get away from her.

It was shameful. It is the wrong way, that is the Trump way.

In a private meeting the Speaker of the House said that she does not want to see Donald Trump impeached, she wants to see him in prison.

Take no comfort in that.

Donald Trump is a criminal. His administration is illegitimate, but he must be removed from office before we can put him on trial for his crimes.

Apologists for the speaker are saying that there is no harm in her words, she is playing the same card e plays when Donald Trump calls for the prosecution and imprisonment of his political opponents.

That is not how America is supposed to work. We cannot let our leaders speak that way about their rivals, that road leads to the undoing of our representative democracy, and the dissolution of the republic.

We cannot leave a criminal in office. He must be impeached.

Open the inquiry now. Hold each member of congress accountable for their vote.

Put Donald Trump on trial in the Senate, hold each senator accountable for their vote.

Expose the fake president for the criminal that he is.

Do it now; duty demands it.

Let it play out as it will.

Show courage, this is not the ginned up impeachment of Bill Clinton, this is something else.

This is what your oath of office demands.

Impeach Him II – Editorial, The Week in Review

Analysis, Commentary, Opinion
04.20.2019

Impeach Him II
The Mueller report is in, but the work is not done. Congress must finish the job.

Impeach him!

Ordinary oversight of the Trump administration must continue, we must investigate his lies and crimes, both before he took office and after.

An impeachment inquiry must begin and the Mueller report is the guide to it.

There is a lot of ground to cover, and it makes no sense for the Democratic Party’s leadership in Congress to take impeachment off the table.

Impeach him, even if it does not mean he gets removed from office. The house of representatives has a duty to impeach this criminal, it does not matter if the senate will not vote to convict him.

Start the investigation in earnest and impeach the Fake President.

Clinton was impeached. He was not removed from office but he was impeached, and that is a permanent part of the record of his presidency.

Trump deserves no less.

Whatever the Democratic Party leadership fears, set it aside. The messaging on this is easy.

Trump deserves to be impeached: Impeachment is the ultimate censure, it is the ultimate rebuke, it can result in removing the President from office, but it does not have to. In fact it never has.

Impeachment without removal from office is still impeachment, and the things this man has done, mark him as the most corrupt president in the history of the United States. The house of representatives needs to impeach him, regardless of whether the senate will toss him out of office, or not.

Impeach him, get on with it.

The man has lied, suborned perjury, cheated, stolen, obstructed justice and abused power, and enriched himself from the offerings of foreign governments, princes and kings. He will not be indicted for his crimes while he occupies the oval office. Therefore he must be impeached.

Impeachment hearing must be held, Trump’s fitness for office must be debated on the floor.

Every congressperson must be forced to vote on it, and everyone in the senate has to be put on the record, stating unequivocally how much they value the principles of our democracy.

Speaker of the House Pelosi, and the rest of the leadership who are hedging on this question, they just need to learn how to tell the story. The narrative is easy, it makes sense.

Impeachment does not need to end with the Trump being expelled from office. Removing him from office is not the responsibility of the House of Representatives, impeaching him is.

The House should do its work, and then the Senate can do theirs.

Do it now.

Do it now.

Leadership – Editorial, The Week in Review

Analysis, Commentary, Opinion
01.19.2019

Leadership
T-Rump was forced to put some sanctions on the Russians when he first took office.

We had to punish them for the Invasion of Ukraine, the illegal annexation of Crimea, and interfering in the 206 Presidential Election.

T-Rump didn’t want to do it. He has business with the Russian’s. He does not care a tiddle about what is taking place in Ukraine, and the Russians interfered in the election to help him win

Trump did not want to punish them, not one little bit.

Do you remember when Mitt Romney complained that Barrack Obama was being naïve because he would not recognize Russia as a grave geo-political threat. Obama, who was President at the time, only considered them to be a minor regional player, albeit, with a whole lot of nuclear missiles.

I was with Obama at the time, I thought he had the sense of things, but Russia’s campaign in the United States caused us to have to reevaluate the extent of their reach.

Mitt Romney, Senator Mitt Romney now, he never quit complaining about that faux pas.

T-rump did not want to sanction the Russians, but a sanctions bill passed anyway, with veto proof majorities in both houses. Even the republican Congress of 2017 had the sense to do what was right.

Then some time passed, there was another election, T-Rump decided to ease some of those sanctions on his own.

Eleven Republican senators joined with the Democrats to say no. Mitt Romney, the newly elected senator from Utah was not one of them.

Old Willard has been pretending that he would be one of those responsible Republicans who would stand up to Trump, but this week, when it came time to stand up to him in relation to our biggest geo-political foe.

That is what passes for leadership among Republicans today.
